FAST COMPANY MAGAZINE SELECTS MINNEAPOLIS PUBLIC RELATIONS FIRM HABERMAN & ASSOCIATES TO PROMOTE 2005 SOCIAL CAPITALIST AWARDS

Fast Company/Monitor Group’s second annual Social Capitalist Awards will recognize 25 non-profits using business acumen to solve social problems

MINNEAPOLIS (Sept. 20, 2005) – Haberman & Associates, a Minneapolis-based public relations firm, has been selected by Fast Company to promote the magazine’s 2005 Social Capitalist Awards program. The awards program honors 25 non-profits or “social entrepreneurs” who use disciplines of the corporate world to find business solutions to the most challenging social issues today.

Haberman & Associates will promote the January 2006 issue of Fast Company that announces the winners. It also will share the stories of the 25 winners with select media outlets across the nation.

“We chose to partner with Haberman & Associates to help tell the stories of these incredible organizations because of its award-winning work on similar cause-related programs, such as the Volvo for Life Awards,” said Cheryl Dahle, project manager of the awards for Fast Company. “The social capitalists we recognize have incredible stories that will inspire organizations to creatively and thoughtfully tackle some of the world’s most challenging social issues.”

Fast Company partners with the Monitor Group, a global strategy-consulting firm, to select the nation’s top non-profit social entrepreneurs. Monitor Group created the first methodology to compare non-profits of different sizes and ages across social sectors. The Monitor Group manages the evaluation process for the awards program and measures each organization’s work in the following categories: social impact, entrepreneurship, innovation, aspiration, and growth and sustainability.

The January 2006 issue of Fast Company will be on newsstands on Dec. 22, 2005. Winners will be collectively recognized at a ceremony in New York City, on Thurs., Jan. 12, 2006. This year the awards also is partnering with The Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, which was started by Klaus Schwab, founder of the World Economic Forum. The foundation will pick a winner from the Social Capitalists list to receive a free trip to Davos and join its network of global social entrepreneurs.
